First Impressions of the Yamaha FG7 and FS7 Series
Yamaha has held a well-earned spot in the acoustic guitar world for a long time now, known for excellent build quality and genuinely innovative pickup technology. Craftsmanship clearly comes first here, and that shows in the new FG7 and FS7 series too. The choice of materials and the build quality are both exemplary. The series covers two body shapes, the FG7 is a dreadnought body, while the FS7 comes in a concert shape. Both models are also available with the premium Atmosfeel pickup system.

Only the Best Ingredients
Aside from the different body shapes, both guitars share the same consistently high-quality materials and features. A solid Sitka spruce top paired with solid Indian rosewood for the back and sides delivers genuinely impressive tone. The one-piece neck is African mahogany, finished in a satin polyurethane coating. The dark fretboard and bridge are both ebony. Yamaha’s signature fretboard and soundhole inlays, plus a slightly reshaped pickguard, give these guitars a nice, refined touch.
Atmosfeel Pickup System
Both models are also available with Yamaha’s Atmosfeel pickup system. It combines a piezo sensor in the bridge for low frequencies, a microphone covering low and mid frequencies, and a custom-developed contact sensor handling the highs. A blend control lets you dial in a seamless transition between the piezo and microphone signals for the best results, while a dedicated bass EQ cleans up the low end when needed.
