The rumors were true: Daft Punk and LEGO have announced a new partnership. Get ready for a bunch of Daft Punk-themed content, including the fan-favorite Daft Punk Concert LEGO set that began as an Ideas submission two years ago.
Daft Punk and LEGO Announce Partnership
Remember the awesome Daft Punk Concert LEGO set that took the internet by storm after being submitted to LEGO Ideas a couple of years ago? Well, it looks like you’ll soon be able to recreate the iconic concert with bricks. LEGO has greenlit the development of an official set based on the Ideas submission.
Patrick Harboun, co-creator of the Daft Punk Concert LEGO Ideas submission, said: “This all started as a creative escape during lockdown between my son and I because of our shared love of Daft Punk and LEGO building. We never dared imagine it would take off in this way. Watching our passion project become part of an official collaboration is an incredible experience, and it’s a reminder of what makes the LEGO Ideas community so special. That a simple idea, shared by fans, really can become something much bigger.”
And according to the Danish toy company and Daft Punk, an official Daft Punk Concert LEGO set based on the Ideas submission will be just the beginning. They’re also planning to bring the two brands together through “mashup of surprising events and content that crosses music, culture and creative spaces”. We don’t know what that means yet, but if you’re a fan of both Daft Punk and LEGO, it looks like you can look forward to some exciting content.
Cédric Hervet, Creative Director for DAFT PUNK
said: “The pyramid stage is one of the most recognisable expressions of Daft Punk’s visual world, so it feels fitting that this fan-created design will be centre stage of this partnership. Fans have always played an important part in Daft Punk’s story, and we are excited to see that creativity reflected through the LEGO universe.”
As of today, LEGO has not announced when the Daft Punk Concert LEGO set will be released and how much it’ll be. As it’s clearly aimed at the AFOL (Adult Fans of LEGO) market, I think we can unfortunately expect it to cost a pretty penny. We’ll keep you updated!
