Movy transforms Ableton Move into an Elektron-style groovebox with 16 tracks. The sequencer for the Schwung framework maps the parameters of Schwung modules to the hardware knobs. Sweet!
Movy: 16-Track Sequencer for Ableton Move
Ever since Move Everything / Schwung came out and created a whole new layer of possibilities for Ableton Move, the user community has been unstoppable. Several remarkable projects have already been brought to life on the ‘shadow layer’, which runs alongside the native Move firmware. The biggest limitation was the 4-track limit. And that’s now history: with Movy by DimaDake, you can not only add an Elektron-style sequencer to your Move, but also expand the track count to 16!
The first four tracks correspond to the four Schwung tracks; tracks 5-16 are hosted directly within Movy. Each track can hold a full Schwung module chain. Movy also automatically maps the parameters of each module to the hardware knobs, complete with Elektron-style display graphics. Depending on the parameter, you might see knobs, switches, lists, or even auto-detected ADSR envelope graphics.

According to the developer, the sequencer was designed to behave much like Move’s native sequencer, offering clips and a session view. The live and step recording modes and automation also work as you’d expect. In addition, you get non-destructive quantization, undo/redo, and even a bunch of features not natively available on Move, such as per-trig parameters (velocity, length, probability, condition, invert), clip parameters, and more. If you’ve ever wished your Move was more Elektron-like, Movy has got you covered! Thanks to the vibrant user community, the possibilities are almost limitless.
Movy is obviously a very promising project that completely transforms Ableton Move. However, the developer points out that it’s far from finished, so be prepared to encounter the occasional bug. Still, it’s amazing what the community keeps coming up with.
