Mooer Meta FX: 3-in-1 Stereo Reverb, Delay, & Modulation

The Mooer Meta FX can access Reverb, Delay, and Modulation effects using its new X Algorithm Platform.

Meta FX

Mooer has just added the new Meta FX to their ever-expanding lineup, and this multi-effects stompbox can load various algorithms from the Reverb, Delay, and Modulation families. These 40 stereo effects are part of their new X Algorithm Platform.

Touchscreen

The main unit has a 1.28-inch circular colour touchscreen with an RGB halo ring for easy onboard navigation, a set of controls for tweaking the effects, which can be assigned depending on the effect currently loaded, and two footswitches for navigating presets and tap tempo.

Switchable Effect Firmware

The key to the whole system is described by Mooer as the switchable effect firmware, which allows the pedal to be set up in one of the three firmware modes: reverb, delay, modulation. These then come with 20 factory presets and access to the various styles of the stereo effects.

Mooer Studio

These firmware loads are all controlled via the Mooer Studio software, which can also add new algorithm expansions and software updates. It runs on both Mac and PC, so you can edit the Meta FX and set it up in one of the three modes.

Below is a breakdown of the available effects listed for each firmware.

Reverb: Room, Hall, Church, Cave, Plate, Spring, Studio, Aethertide, Shimmer, Dream, Warp, Crush, and more.

Delay: Digital, Analog, Tape, Dynamic, Galaxy, Ping Pong, Crystal, Rainbow, Low-Bit, Fuzzy, and more.

Modulation: Chorus, Phaser, Flanger, Vibrato, Tremolo, Rotary, 60Vibe, Harmony, SlowEngine, LofiMachine (15 effect types total).

Performance

Designed for dynamic live performance, this new pedal offers powerful real-time control features right at your feet.

Holding footswitch B triggers Infinite Sustain, making it effortless to shape atmospheric ambience and smooth stage transitions, while Tap Tempo lets you sync delay and modulation speeds to the beat on the fly.

For advanced setups, turning on Kill Dry completely removes your direct signal to leave only the wet effect, ideal for parallel rigs and massive sound walls. Finally, the Trail feature ensures your effect tails decay naturally and smoothly even after the effect is bypassed.

Connectivity

This Meta FX features 100 user preset locations for custom setups. On the front and back, you get stereo 1/4″ TS audio inputs paired with stereo 1/4″ TS audio outputs, along with a 1/8″ TRS headphone jack. Rounding out the connections is a USB-C port that handles power delivery, computer connectivity, and firmware updates.

Who is it for?

As it is stereo, the Meta FX will suit guitars, synthesisers and drum machines. Making it potentially a great tool for all musicians, and great for use in the studio. I like that they have made it easy to use live, so if you want to gig with it, it has plenty of useful features for performance.

If you want to experiment, then it is versatile. Yes, it is a shame that only one switchable effect firmware can be loaded at a time. But this is Mooer, and so maybe we will see a version that can load multiple effects at atuime on the future.

Also, nice paint job!
