Exceptional metal guitarist Brandon Ellis and Jackson have designed a new signature guitar that is a true visual statement. The Brandon Ellis Kelly KE27 comes in a distressed “Gold Crackle” finish and features 27 frets. Nothing about this new signature model is boring or ordinary.

Brandon Ellis Kelly KE27
In terms of body shape, the Brandon Ellis Kelly KE27 belongs to the Kelly family of guitars from Jackson. The body shape is a familiar Jackson design; few guitars, besides the Flying V, are as synonymous with the heaviest metal styles.
27 Frets!
The Signature model features nyatoh wood for the body, a maple neck- through construction with graphite reinforcement, and a maple fretboard. Stylish black sharkfin inlays, typical of Jackson.
Unusually for Jackson, and indeed for many others: 27 frets, jumbo stainless steel type. This is supposed to allow for even faster note playing in the highest registers. I’d certainly be curious to see if the three extra frets at the top might make it a bit cramped for those with larger hands.
Golden Crackle and Seymour Duncan
The Brandon Ellis Kelly KE27, with its “Gold Crackle” finish, matching gold hardware, and black pickup covers, is a darkly elegant guitar. Speaking of hardware, one might expect a Floyd Rose tremolo, but in this case, it features a Gotoh GE1996T double-locking tremolo in the top-mount version.
This is intended to ensure greater tuning stability even during the most intense dive-bombing. It also features gold Jackson die-cast tuners.
For pickups, two Seymour Duncan models: a single-coil STK-1 at the neck and the Dyad Parallel Axis humbucker in the bridge position.
Three-way controls for switching and combining pickups are a familiar feature. However, the push/pull function on the volume control isn’t for coil splitting. Instead, it switches the two humbucker coils from
series to parallel.
This is intended to produce a brighter sound with a slightly reduced output.
Price & Availability
The Jackson Brandon Ellis Kelly KE27 is available now for €1,749.00 from Thomann. A gig bag is included. It is certainly a statement guitar, and you may want the chops to back up its aesthetic!
