All about the new Harley Benton Crossover:
What do we think about the Harley Benton Crossover guitars?
It’s certainly a very interesting proposition to have an electric version of one of the oldest styles of guitar. These new classical guitars come with a pickup and could be great for recording. However, I love the look of the satin black Harley Benton CLG-70R. The overall quality on Harley Benton 12 strings are really good, but I have found that the action is very high at the higher frets. I wonder if these will be any different?

If you play guitar, I’m sure at some point you’ve played a very tired nylon-stringed instrument with crazy high action and worn frets. The new Harley Benton Crossover aims to rid you of those woes. On offer is a nylon guitar built for the stage.

On offer is a solid Canadian cedar top for a wam warm overall acoustic tone, plus a sapele mahogany armrest for maximum comfort. Electrification is handled via the tried-and-tested Fishman Presys II system with an integrated tuner. I have this installed on one of my own guitars, and I can say that the screen is clear, and the intonation is accurate.
My pick of the bunch has to be the traditional-looking natural finish, but you can also opt for a somewhat more modern matt finish with rosewood back and sides. Both come with a nato neck and rosewood fingerboards.

Surely, twelve strings are better than six? Also dropping alongside the Harley Benton Crossover guitars is this handsome-looking twelve-string. This grand auditorium body will be large for some players, but ideal for that big, bright twelve-string sound that you’d hope for.

I love the contrasting Sonokeling rosewood sides! Such a deep look to that wood. The neck is an appropriate C profile, which matches the body size, but will also allow you to reach all chord shapes with the challenge of extra strings. Mother of pearl inlays sit upon the aforementioned Eastern mahogany neck and rosewood board.
A bone nut and die-cast machine heads are what we get for tuning stability, which is vital on a guitar of this nature. Likewise, this benefits from the same amplification system as the Harley Benton Crossover, but this is the Sonicore Fishman II system. This thing will sound great through a PA playing Wish You Were Here.
Pricing and Availability
All three of these guitars are avaliable to purchase right away from Thomann. With the Crossover guitars, in both finishes, retailing for *£210/ €249, and the 12-String equivalent for *£252/ €299, I hope that they sell very well.
This is because the Crossovers will make a perfect addition for beginners who are used to playing classical, but want to get in on the amplified action. Plus, they’re priced just right before Cyberweek and Christmas purchases.
