Artificially aged guitars are all the rage. Fender and other makers of ST and T models have already noticed how artificially aging guitars can be a selling point. It’s almost as if 30 years of touring are built right in! With the new Harley Benton Aged HA62 and LA62 series, the manufacturer showcases its take on “Heavy Aging” and “Light Aging.”

Harley Benton Aged HA62 and LA62: ST-Style Guitars
Harley Benton’s 62 Series is one of its most popular ones, and the T models in particular (along with the 52 model) are extremely popular among beginners. But let’s be honest. A “real” guitar from 64 years ago shouldn’t look smoothly painted and brand-new if it’s been on the road ever since, right?
In recent years, guitar makers have been releasing models with “artificial aging,” where the finish is intentionally cracked and scratched. And not, we’re getting a budget-conscious version of that: the Harley Benton Aged HA62 and LA62 models. In this case, the “HA” stands for “Heavy Aging,” and the “LA” for “Light Aging,” indicating the degree of wear.
Note that for all models, the aging process is done by hand, so each guitar or bass may vary slightly from the product image. This makes every instrument unique!
Let’s start with the ST-style models. They feature an alder body, a neck, and fingerboard made of Canadian caramelized maple (C-profile), three ISOLA VT-ST Alnico 5 single-coil pickups, and a tremolo bridge. Each model costs 249 euros at Thomann* and is available in either black or three-tone sunburst, in both heavily aged (HA) and lightly aged (LA) versions.
T-Style and JA-Style
While the ST-Style models tend to be jacks of all guitar trades, T-Style and JA-Style guitars are geared more toward indie and alternative rock players. As with the ST-Style guitars, there are two variants for each: Harley Benton Aged HA62 and Harley Benton LA62.
The T-style models come in two colors: Lake Placid Blue or Green Light – perfect for surf rock or other ’50s-inspired genres. These guitars feature the same types of wood, plus a classic T-style bridge (TB01 with brass saddles), as well as an ISOLA VT-TE-B Alnico 5 single-coil pickup at the bridge and an ISOLA VT-TE-CR-N Alnico 5 single-coil pickup at the neck. There are also four models available for offset fans. The Harley Benton Aged HA62 and LA62 models feature a visual highlight: in addition to a bright, Shell Pink finish two models are available in Candy Apple over Sunburst.
In other words, the guitar not only looks well-worn here, but also as if it had been painted twice, and traces of both finishes are still visible. HB has equipped this model with a Tune-O-Matic bridge, an ISOLA CL-JM–B Alnico 5 single-coil pickup at the neck, and an ISOLA CL-JM–N at the bridge. Get one from Thomann*.

For bass beginners, there’s also plenty to choose from here First, we get four P-Bass models, two each in the Harley Benton Aged HA62 and Harley Benton LA62 versions.
