The Guild S-300 Deluxe is being released in two new versions, Neptune Blue Metallic and Vintage Sterling Metallic, bringing one of the most unusual guitars in the brand’s history back to the stage.

The Guild S-300 Deluxe was and remains a rebel!
When the S-300 was first released in 1977, it was considered extremely radical. Its asymmetrical offset body with unusual cutaways and pronounced contours differed significantly from guitars of the time. The integrated phase switch was also unusual for the era.
What polarised opinions then is now highly sought after: Over the decades, the S-300 has become a coveted vintage guitar with a loyal following. I’m a big fan of offset, quirky guitars and so this re-release very much appeals to me.
Construction
Both models share identical features. A set-in mahogany neck complements the mahogany body with comfortable contours and a soft U-profile. The ivory-bound rosewood fretboard, the large vintage headstock with Guild Peak logo and Chesterfield inlays, the stylish 5-ply black pickguard, and classic top-hat buttons underscore the guitar’s vintage character.
This guitar looks great and has a good, solid choice of proven woods for the construction. This could be a great choice for players looking for an alternative to an SG, for example.
Twin Humbuckers
On the hardware side, an Ultimate Angle Tune-o-matic bridge, a vintage-style Guild compensated tailpiece, and Grover G2 open-gear tuners ensure solid tuning stability.
Two HB-2+ humbuckers with Alnico V magnets deliver a wide range: from warm, punchy old-school tones to clear, cutting crunch. Separate volume and tone controls for each pickup, as well as the phase switch, open up additional tonal possibilities.
Price and Availability
The Guild S-300 Deluxe boasts a distinctive design and tonal versatility. These guitars are real eye-catchers. The colours— Neptune Blue Metallic and Vintage Sterling Metallic— are also excellent choices.
The price of £735/€849 is equally appealing. Both guitars will soon be available here at Thomann.
