The Friedman VX-30 amp is Dave Friedman’s take on the classic British Vox voice and adds something other than Marshall-voiced amps to his company’s lineup.

VX-30
The new VX-30 from Friedman is the latest release from the US amp builder and one we saw teased back during the NAMM show at the beginning of the year. This time, Dave Friedman has taken on the classic Vox amp tone and gone for a ‘copper panel’ Top Boost AC30 voice with this all-tube 30-watt amp head.
I’m expecting classic chime, and as it is a Friedman amp, it should have a few extra tricks up its sleeve as well. It will be available as a head with a matching cabinet and also as a combo loaded, both with Alnico Blue speakers.
This could be a great amp for anyone seeking the classic AC30 amp tones, but with modern reliability and a more versatile way of blending the two classic Vox voices of these models.

Single Channel EL84
The main amp is powered by three ECC83 preamp tubes and four EL84 tubes in the power section. A 5AR4 tube rectifier provides authentic sag. The amp is a single-channel design with two distinct voices.
It has the two voices you would expect: Normal and Brilliant, plus they are wired in phase and can also be blended, which is more than a 1963 Vox could ever handle.
The amp controls consist of Volume, Treble, and Bass for the Brilliant channel. The Normal channel then has its own controls with Volume and a three-position Voice switch.
The blending of channels will make this amp a lot more versatile, and it also has the Master Volume Control and a global Cut control as well.
Availability
The Friedman VX-30 is available at Thomann and Sweetwater.
