Around this time last year, EVE Audio unveiled its EXO Series, a lineup of four different sizes of 2-way monitors with coated aluminium woofers and AirMotion ribbon tweeters enhanced with Guided Directivity Control (GDC) waveguide technology.
EVE Audio Origin
To harness some of the exciting innovations within the EXO Series, the Origin software app gives you direct control of the DSP functions, which is ideal for multichannel speaker systems where the precision and timing of each speaker really matter. Once you’ve created a customization profile for a speaker in your setup, you can store the settings on the speaker directly, so the adjustments remain permanently active.
Among the EXO Series settings controllable via the Origin app, you can adjust the volume, input selection, delay time, sensitivity, smart filters, and overall speaker configuration. The Origin app also provides a visually enhanced interface for making EQ and smart filter adjustments. The filters are particularly useful in the room optimization process, while the 8-band EQ allows you to target specific areas of the spectrum.
Each of the eight bands has a variable Q-factor and a selection of different filter types to suit various applications, and these can be adjusted both numerically and visually in real time. Once you’ve made a set of adjustments, you can also quickly bypass the processing to compare it with its original state, which is important to have perspective.
In addition, Origin has a new feature called Scenes that lets you create, store, and recall speaker configurations for specific tasks. This allows you to switch between a neutral profile for mixing and an enhanced one for production sessions. Overall, this adds plenty of value for EXO Series users because Origin is a free app.
